Privacy notice
ROAST ROOM PRIVACY NOTICE Last updated: October 17, 2026
Roast Room is an 18+ service for live debates. Contact: sanjeev.ksarin@gmail.com.
Information we collect When you sign in with Google, Google supplies your account identifier, email address, name, and profile-picture information. We use this to authenticate your account. We do not request access to Gmail, Google Drive, contacts, or calendars.
We store the profile information you submit, including your display name, handle, bio, profile picture, and optional social handles. We also store debate submissions, schedules, participation and attendance information, chat messages, votes, XP, token balances, reports, blocks, and moderation decisions. Authentication cookies keep you signed in. Our hosting, authentication, and video providers process technical information needed to deliver and protect the service, such as connection and request information.
What other people can see Your profile, social handles, approved debate listings, and room chat are visible to other users. Live rooms transmit participating speakers' enabled cameras and microphones to people connected to that room. Your email is not displayed on your public profile. Vote totals are shown after voting closes; individual ballot records are not displayed publicly.
Live video LiveKit handles real-time audio and video delivery. Roast Room does not currently enable server-side recording of debates. Other participants may independently record or share what they see, so avoid sharing private information in a room.
Service providers Roast Room uses Google for Google sign-in, Supabase for authentication and background scheduling, LiveKit for live media, and OpenAI Sites and its Cloudflare infrastructure for website hosting and application data. These providers process data as needed to operate their services. Their services may process information outside your country. Social links lead to third-party services with their own privacy practices.
Use and retention We use information to provide profiles, debates, chat, voting and XP, maintain security, and handle reports and support. The current application does not include advertising trackers or a data-selling feature. Stored account and activity records currently have no automatic expiry. You can edit your profile and remove your profile photo through the profile screen. For account deletion or other privacy requests, contact sanjeev.ksarin@gmail.com. We may need to verify that a request concerns your account. Records needed for security, dispute handling, or legal obligations may need to be retained; provider backups may persist after removal from active systems.
Your choices You can turn your camera and microphone off, leave a room, sign out, and revoke Google access through your Google Account settings. Revoking Google access does not by itself delete stored Roast Room data. Do not use Roast Room if you are under 18. Contact us if you believe an under-18 account is using the service.
Changes We will update this notice when the service's data practices change. Stripe processes credit purchases and collects payment details and billing and US service addresses through its hosted checkout. Roast Room stores payment session identifiers, account identifiers, purchased credit amounts, and transaction amounts to fulfill purchases and prevent duplicate crediting. Full card numbers are not stored by Roast Room. Bug reports are private to the site owner and include the description you submit and the current room identifier when applicable.
